Croatian Translation Service

Croatian is one of the standard variants of Serbo-Croat. It is Croatia's official language and is also used by Croatians in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Our agency has years of experience translating from Croatian to a variety of languages and also into Croatian.

If you want to do business in Croatia, if you are going to emigrate there, or if you want a book or a magazine translated, you’ll need a translation of the highest levels of quality. Our translators have expert knowledge of specific fields and are all native speakers of Croatian, so you can always be assured of the best translation. Every text that comes to us is analysed by one of our project managers before a specialist is assigned to it. A marketing text is, after all, not the same as a legal document.

The language

Croatian is the official language. In Istria County, Italian is also recognised as an official language. A large proportion of the population also speaks Serbian.
However, in business circles, the lingua francas are, on the whole, English and German. Usually, a business card in English is sufficient. Despite this, it is always appreciated if you have some of your business documents in Croatian.

We will be glad to translate your documents to and from Croatian for you. We offer translations for business documents, day-to-day correspondence, presentations, brochures, and proposals.

Doing business in Croatia

Expanding your business abroad is a big step to take. There are a number of things you have to take into account: laws and regulations, transport, communication and, of course, getting to know your new market. The fact that British businesses are successful abroad is nothing new. Croatia offers numerous prospects for British investors across a wide range of sectors. If your company has also set its sights on Croatia, then we will be happy to give you a few tips to help you succeed in doing business in this country.

Business culture: formal and hierarchical

Croats are formal towards their business partners in business meetings. Being too familiar is not recommended. Always address business contacts with their title and surname.
Companies are structured in a very hierarchical way, and the director has the authority to make decisions. Managers are appointed to manage employees.
If you make an appointment by phone, you are expected to confirm it by email. In your first meeting, it is important that you first take some time to introduce yourself, to listen well, and to ask questions of your business contact. It is often the case that decisions are made in a later follow-up meeting.

Business agreements and corporate gifts

In Croatia, work and private life often intermingle. Lunch is often seen as a good opportunity to do businessand corporate gifts are often exchanged at such times. Offering gifts is a normal occurrence and is more than a mere formality. Flowers, chocolates, and alcohol are often appreciated.
